Nuclear Operations

The Nuclear Operations capability consists of 4 capabilities providing technical support (commercial work, R&D, nuclear foresight & advice) to a wide range of customers including the UK government.

Plant Intervention – Plant Inspection and Development

We provide a variety of inspection and characterisation techniques both visual and NDT. The capability includes development, testing and ultimately on plant deployment of bespoke inspection/characterisation equipment and deployment systems working closely with the Remote Engineering team and specialist suppliers.

The Team’s services include:

  • Visual and NDT Plant condition monitoring and inspection in remote and harsh environments
  • Development of bespoke inspection devices and deployment systems
  • Development of remote vessel and pipework access and resealing
  • Plant Life Management
  • Media production

Customers: Sellafield Limited, SL tier 2’s (including WYG, Kaefer, Shepleys etc.), Harwell, EDF.

Skills: The whole team are active area workers and inducted into the majority of customer plants.

A number of the inspectors/assessors are ASME L1 and PCN L2 trained.

We have personnel trained and experienced in rope access and confined space working.

Collaborations: We have worked with suppliers/partners on specific areas e.g. Laser Scanner (Createc) and GM/SiC Probes – (JCS) and Remote vessel access (BHR).
